Abstract: This paper aims to explain the definitions of Mutlaq and Muqayyad, which are fundamental principles in Ushul Fiqh, because misunderstanding of these two concepts often leads to mistakes in drawing legal rulings from the Qur'an and Hadith., investigate their legal implications, and analyze their application in Islamic jurisprudence, including differences of opinion among scholars, especially between the Mutakallimin and Hanafiyah methodologies. This study uses a qualitative literature review method by analyzing classical Ushul Fiqh literature, relevant verses of the Qur'an, and Hadith. The findings show that Mutlaq refers to general expressions without restrictions, sementara Muqayyad mengacu pada ekspresi yang terbatas pada kondisi tertentu. Dalam kasus di mana keputusan hukum dan alasan di baliknya sama,Mutlaq is generally interpreted by considering Muqayyad; however, differences arise when both the decision and the cause are different. This study concludes that a proper understanding of Mutlaq and Muqayyad is essential for the accurate interpretation of Islamic legal texts and to prevent the misuse of Sharia law.
